Mayor - He's the "Mayor of the City". Mayor was found in D.C. in an alley by a policeman who feeds strays on his beat. He knew this cat was friendly and asked if we could find him a home. Mayor is what I call a "man's cat": he's HUGE, has a big head, and is quite independent. He's a friendly guy who loves to look out the windows, loves his head patted, and loves to be in the room with you - especially in the kitchen. He's not a lap cat, but he loves people and loves attention..he's not shy and wants to be in the mix of things. He's not fond of being picked up, probably because he's so large. But I often pick up the front part of his body (so he's sort of standing) just to give him hugs. He uses his litter box well. The only down side is that he's positive for FIV which is the feline version for HIV. Mayor is very healthy otherwise, and will live a nice long normal life as long as he's kept indoors where he can't get sick (like a "cold" - upper respiratory). But he can't be kept with other cats because it's transmissible via a bite to CATS ONLY. Not to dogs. Not to humans. There are no medicines for him to take, and no medical issues otherwise.
