We rescued these girls from an animal shelter in early August and they appear to have had little socialization. They are as sweet as they can be, but they are just now learning to trust people. We believe the girls are young. They are great explorers and enjoy snuggling together in their hammocks. We feel the girls would do best with a patient and experienced guardian who can spend lots of time working with them to slowly gain their trust. Patti is a lovely pink-eyed white, Faye is a black berkshire with the tiniest sliver of white on her forehead, and Addie is a spunky black and white hooded. The girls are bonded best friends and must be adopted together. The adoption fee is $30 for the trio. We welcome questions! We always have a lot of rattie friends in our care, and we go through a lot of hammocks. For just a few dollars Rags To Rescues will send a snuggly handmade hammock directly to Small Angels. Only $1.00 for a hammock, $2.00 for a pocket hammock or small tube/pouch and $3.25 for a large tube/pouch. Check them out at www.ragstorescues.webs.com. The rats of Small Angels thank you for helping to make their stay as comfy and cozy as possible while they wait for their Forever Homes. (The hammocks from Rags To Rescues are only available to animals in shelters and rescues.) Check out www.martinscages.com for great rat habitats. Martins ships quickly from PA. We recommend the Rat Lodge (R-680) or Rat Retreat (R-685).....or larger. For your convenience, Small Angels Rescue has Rat Lodge (R-680) powder coated cages in stock and available for purchase at cost. Any habitat should provide a minimum of two and half cubic feet of space per rat. Please check with us before purchasing a cage other than a Martin's cage. Some cages are the correct dimensions but have other problems. We are happy to assist you in choosing an appropriate habitat and can save you time, money and frustration. Remember, there is no such thing as a cage that is too big! Please use Carefresh bedding (first choice) or aspen bedding for your animal friends. Never put your rats in an exercise ball. Exercise balls are dangerous and stressful for all animals. Rodents have poor eyesight. Their vision is even more limited in a cloudy colored ball. They always run into furniture and walls, which they don't see coming. It's like a car crash for them. They back up to try and get away and end up crashing into something else. Its very stressful. In addition, paws can get pinched/broken in the air slits. Animals can easily become over-heated. If they go to the bathroom in the ball, they have to run in their own waste. Furthermore, their great joy in life is exploring and checking things out with their paws and noses.
